How do I get the most out of therapy?

ExpandCollapse

You will be investing both time and resources into therapy and you want to make sure you get the most out of your sessions. Therefore, it is most beneficial to be an active participant in the process. This involves sharing your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, asking questions, being reflective, and attending sessions regularly.

How can I tell if therapy is working for me?

ExpandCollapse

A good way to tell if therapy is working is to look out for positive changes. Setting specific, achievable goals with your therapist and seeing progress toward those goals, even if they’re small steps, is a positive sign. A skilled therapist helps you feel heard and understood and creates a trusting relationship. If you're gaining fresh perspectives on challenges, feeling more empowered and in control, and finding better ways to communicate in your relationships, therapy is likely making a positive impact. Remember: therapy is a collaborative process, so if you ever feel unsure, discussing your progress and concerns with your therapist can help change the process to better suit your needs.

How do I book an individual therapy appointment?

ExpandCollapse

Booking an appointment at Good Days is easy. You can click “Book Appointment” at the top-right of the page and you will be directed to our booking system. You will then be able to select a date to schedule your complimentary intake phone call and input a few pieces of information into the form (e.g., name, contact, presenting concerns). Alternatively, you can email office@gooddaystherapy.com or call 416-738-3032 to book an intake call. Once you complete your intake call, you will be matched with a therapist who will contact you to book your first therapy appointment.

Are fees covered by OHIP or insurance plans?

ExpandCollapse

Session fees are not covered by OHIP, but may be partially covered by extended health insurance plans. The coverage for each insurance carrier is different, so please check your plan to see details of your coverage, including whether your plan covers services from both psychologists and psychotherapists, the claim procedure, and the details required on receipts. The fees charged follow the guidelines set by the Ontario Psychological Association (OPA). Payment for services is due at the end of each session and a receipt will be given to you when payment is received. Please retain these receipts for your income tax claims or insurance provider, as we do not provide direct billing.

What is the cancellation policy?

ExpandCollapse

If you need to cancel your session, please contact your therapist directly or send an email to office@gooddaystherapy.com. Please provide more than 48-hours notice in order to avoid being charged. Cancellations with less than 48-hours notice and no-shows will be charged the full session fee.

What is the difference between a clinical psychologist, a registered psychotherapist, and a student-therapist?

ExpandCollapse

Psychologists and psychotherapists are both mental health experts who work with people facing mental and emotional health issues and can both provide talk therapy. Psychotherapists have completed at least a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology or a related field, completed all required clinical training, and are registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Psychologists have completed a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, completed all required clinical training, and are registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO). In addition to providing talk therapy, psychologists are extensively trained in conducting psychological assessments and diagnosis. Student-therapists are completing a practicum to fulfill requirements for a graduate degree (e.g., M.A., M.Ed, Ph.D, Ed.D.) in Clinical or Counselling Psychology. They provide services under the supervision of a registered psychotherapist or a clinical psychologist.

What are the possible methods of payment?

ExpandCollapse

As part of completing your client profile, you will be asked to upload your credit card information to our booking system. For payment, you can choose whether you would like to have your credit card automatically charged at the end of every session or you can send us an e-transfer to office@gooddaystherapy.com
